How International Students in Canada Can Change Their DLI
Changing schools in Canada is possible, but the rules differ depending on whether you are at the primary, secondary, or post-secondary level.
International students in Canada may transfer between designated learning institutions, but the process is not the same at every level of study. Post-secondary students generally need to notify IRCC of the change through their online account, while students at the primary and secondary level follow a different procedure.
If you hold a study permit and are considering a transfer, it is important to confirm that your new institution is a designated learning institution and that your permit conditions allow the change.
A transfer that is not properly recorded can affect future applications, including the post-graduation work permit. Review your options before you withdraw from your current program.
